Fine eating

In Laciana Valley, the cuisine is composed by a great variety of dishes made with products that you can easily find in the area. Some well-known dishes in the area are: 

Caldo de Berzas: It is a stew made with beans, cabbage, potatoes and several types of meat (black pudding, pork sausage, ham…) It is perfect to get warm on the cold winter days. 

Empanada: There are many types of fillings for this dish, which is a basic in Laciana’s cuisine. The most famous one is “Empanada del país”: you should deconstruct it to eat it. 

Embutido or cold meat: Every product derived from pig slaughter is the basis of daily food. Either cooked or raw, there is always a good occasion to try the pork products. 

Fixuelos: A sweet dish. It is made with flour and milk, and fried in olive oil with a peculiar shape, spiral. The ideal combination is to drink a cup of hot chocolate along with this sweet. 

Cachelos brañeiros: It was the typical food for the brañeros, men who used to spend a lot of time in the mountains taking care of the cattle. It is made with boiled potatoes, and then rehashed with garlic, paprika and bacon. 

Limonada: Even though its name makes us think about the typical lemonade, there is no trace of lemon in it. This beverage, typical from the Easter period is more similar to Sangría. It is made with red or white wine, different liquors, sugar and fruit, and it needs some time to macerate.
