People from Laciana Valley still play some traditional sports, such as racing holding milk churns, pulling a rope, different types of shooting and traditional bowling with wooden pins and bowling balls. There are also many other modern sports:
Inline Alpine Ski:
The main point of this sport is going down slopes at maximum speed wearing roller skates. Sometimes the racer also has to avoid obstacles. We can found in Villablino the European capital of this sport. Every year, during August, several sporting events take place in the streets of the capital. Among these events, the European Championship and some world competitions take place. Thanks to this event, called Xamascada, hundreds of competitors and tourists from all Europe come to the Valley.
Alpine and Cross-country Skiing: You can practise both varieties of ski in Leitariegos. It is a ski resort in the border between Asturias and León. This is a very small ski resort, and that is why it is perfect for beginners. There are several ski clubs and a ski school. During the winter, they organize ski and snowboard competitions.
Rally “Subida a Leitariegos”: Motor fans also have their place in the Valley. This rally has been celebrated more than 20 times, and every year it attracts more fans. There are important car associations in the Valley such as Laciana Motor and RMC.
